Save the Date! - 25th Anniversary of Coastal Cleanup Day

Dear Volunteers:

The City of Fremont Environmental Services Division will be hosting cleanup events in honor of Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 19, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Last year, on September 20, there were 73,461 volunteers that removed 1,658,819 pounds of debris in California alone.  With over 225 volunteers participating in Fremont last year, they have removed just under 3,000 pounds of material along 4.9 miles of creeks.  This was our best cleanup in the history of Coastal Cleanup Day in Fremont.  We are planning to make it BIGGER this year.

September 19 will mark the 25th Anniversary of Coastal Cleanup Day.  Not only is this event a local, state and nation event, but it is an international event as well.  Join the millions of volunteers internationally that participate on this special day in honor of protecting the waters and oceans of the world.  So get to your calendars and mark the date, September 19 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Pre-registration is required.  More information will follow at a future date that will include cleanup site locations.

Thank you for all that you do for the environment.
