Service Unleashed

Youth service is grabbing lots of headlines now, from President Obama to congress to state and local leaders. Everyone wants young people to serve their communities, but very few know how to make it happen.

Youth Service California has twenty years of experience implementing high quality youth service in California"in classrooms, after school programs, and faith-based youth groups. These past years have brought us many fruitful friends and partnerships, and need your support now more than ever to create new meaningful service experiences for our young people.

Like everyone, we have been hit hard by the economic crisis. When California passed its recent budget, it eliminated a major source of our funding a year earlier than we anticipated. Through our Service Unleashed donor campaign, we are building on our experience and forward momentum, and closing this funding gap as quickly as possible. That is why we are contacting you today. Now more than ever, we need the people of California to stand up and support this work on behalf of our young people and the future of this state. We are counting on you today.

Visit our website, www.yscal.org, to donate, learn more about our programs, or look at our publications and upcoming events. Your contributions go to an organization that spends 95% of its resources on developing and implementing youth service programs. We know how to s-t-r-e-t-c-h a dollar! Thank you for taking time to listen to us. We would love to hear from you to answer any questions you might have about this campaign or our work in general, and we will keep you up-to-date as we continue. Yours in service, Mark Batenburg Executive Director
